2 more die of COVID-19 from Pindi, 226 new cases

Rawalpindi:Keeping the situation much alarming, the coronavirus infected another 226 patients from Islamabad Capital Territory and Rawalpindi district in the last 24 hours while coronavirus illness, COVID-19 has claimed another two lives from the region, all from Rawalpindi district taking death toll from the region to 1,793.

It is important that the positivity rate of COVID-19 from Rawalpindi remained well over 6.5 per cent in the last 24 hours. Out of 1,104 samples tested for the infection, 76 turned out to be positive at a positivity rate of 6.88 per cent.

No death due to COVID-19 was reported from the federal capital in the last 24 hours though a total of 787 patients had already died of the illness from ICT. Data collected by ‘The News’ on Monday has revealed that the total number of patients so far reported from the twin cities has reached 110,509 while the number of active cases from the region has been recorded as 2,718.

In the last 24 hours, another 67 patients have been tested positive from Rawalpindi district taking the tally to 25,787 of which 24,120 patients have recovered. Death of another two COVID-19 patients from the district has taken the death toll to 1006.

According to the district health department, as many as 56 confirmed patients from the district were undergoing treatment at the healthcare facilities in town while 605 patients were in home isolation on Monday.

On the other hand, the total number of patients so far tested positive from the federal capital reached 84,722 after confirmation of 159 cases in the last 24 hours. To date, a total of 81,878 patients from ICT have recovered while the number of active cases of the disease has been recorded as 2,057 on Monday.
