LAHORE – Punjab Governor Ch Muhammad Sarwar has convened the Punjab Assembly Session on July 9 (Friday), days after the budget session which continued for two weeks.
It will be 34th session of the incumbent Assembly and is likely to continue for a week or so.
It has been learnt that the new session has primarily been called only to fulfill the constitutional requirement of completing the mandatory 100 days for which the Assembly has to remain in session. The third parliamentary session will be completed on August 15 and the Punjab Assembly is short of 24 days. Another session is most likely be called after Eidul Azha for two weeks. Sources said that there was no urgency as such to convene the session immediately after the budget session. A few amendment bills concerning different departments would be laid in the House during the upcoming session, they said.
