RAWALPINDI – Anti Narcotics Force (ANF) has launched a countrywide crackdown against the drug mafia while arresting 30 suspected smugglers and recovering huge quantity of narcotics, informed ANF HQ spokesman on Thursday. Of 30 suspected smugglers, there was an Afghan national and a lady smuggler, he said. The ANF also impounded 15 vehicles during operation, he added. According to him, ANF, following orders of Director General (DG) Arif Malik, conducted 26 operations against drug mafia across the country and held 30 smugglers. The ANF seized 1885.66kg of narcotics valuing US $ 107.951 million internationally. The seized drugs comprised 18.72kg Heroin, 1492.75kg Hashish, 120kg Opium, 1.04kg Amphetamine (Ice), 6600 ecstasy tabs (3.85kg), 1.60kg suspected powder, 5460 Alparozlam tabs (1.50kg), 565320 Xanax tabs (134kg), 264000 x Valium Diazepam tabs (78kg), 83760 Pinix Alprazlom tabs (26.5kg), 7.5kg Methamphetamine (Ice) and 0.2kg ecstasy powder, the spokesman said.
The operations were carried out against drug mafia in Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Peshawar, Lahore, Karachi, Quetta, Faisalabad and other localities, he said. He mentioned separate cases have been registered against the drug smugglers with concerned ANF police stations. DG ANF Arif Malik appreciated the efforts of ANF officers.
