Another day without corona death, 35 new cases reported

Rawalpindi : No death due to coronavirus illness, COVID-19 has been reported on the second consecutive day, on Tuesday from Islamabad Capital Territory and Rawalpindi district while 35 new patients belonging to the twin cities have been diagnosed with the disease in the last 24 hours showing that the third wave of COVID-19 outbreak has started losing intensity in the region.

It is important that to date, a total of 107,086 patients have been reported from ICT and Rawalpindi district combined of which as many as 1,766 patients have lost their lives due to COVID-19.

Not only the number of patients being tested positive for COVID-19 from the region is on a decline but also the positivity rate of the infection is showing a certain depression for the last few days.

According to In-charge District COVID-19 Cell Rawalpindi Dr. Hafiz Muhammad Jawad Zahid, a total of 30 patients have been tested positive in the district against 2223 tests conducted in the last 24 hours recording the positivity rate as 1.34 per cent.

He added the number of individuals being vaccinated against COVID-19 is also on a tremendous increase. To date, as many as 603,047 persons have been vaccinated in the district including 573069 citizens and 29,978 healthcare workers, he said.

Data collected by ‘The News’ on Tuesday reveals that 26 new patients have been tested positive from ICT and nine from Rawalpindi district in the last 24 hours.

From Rawalpindi district, a total of 24,692 patients have so far been reported of which 991 have lost their lives while 23,538 have recovered from the illness. On Tuesday, there were a total of 163 active cases of the disease from Rawalpindi of which 20 were undergoing treatment at the healthcare facilities while 143 were in home isolation.

From the federal capital, a total of 82,394 patients have been confirmed positive for COVID-19 of which 80,566 patients have recovered while 775 have lost their lives. On Tuesday, the number of active cases from the federal capital was recorded as 1,053.
