Lakki marwat – The district administration on Saturday removed permanent structures during an anti-encroachment drive in Daud Shah area of Bannu district.
The operation was launched on the directives of Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Zubair Niazi to clear the urban roads of all kinds of encroachments. Under the supervision of Assistant Commissioner Dr Tayyab Hayat, the revenue staffers along with an anti-encroachment squad of municipal administration took part in the action.
With the help of heavy machinery they razed illegal structures and also removed temporary encroachments from roadsides in the congested area. A police contingent was also present on the occasion to tackle resistance by encroachers and avert any untoward incident.
Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Zubair Niazi told The Nation that encroachments beside roads and in busy bazaars had defaced the urban locality besides hindering smooth flow of traffic. He said that removal of encroachments would add to the beautification of the city.
The DC made it clear that his administration would not spare land grabbers and those involved in occupying state land or illegal constructions on it would face stern action.
