KARACHI – An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Friday sent Jeay Sindh Qaumi Muhaz (JSQM) chairman Sannan Khan Qureshi on two days remand in a case pertaining to allegedly resorting to violence, ransacking and torching private properties in Bahria Town Karachi (BTK) during their protest against the mega project. JSQM chairman and others political activists were produced before judge’s chamber in the ATC Clifton branch. During the hearing, the judge questioned about accused persons’ counsel but they were not present at the time. At which, the court sent him on two days remand. While JSQM chairman stated that he has been tortured and harassed by police. However, a team of lawyers reached the court and told the media that they were informed that Qureshi would be produced at 11:00 am but he had been brought to court at 9:00 am. The lawyers said that it is an injustice with the accused to sending him on remand without hearing arguments of his counsel.
