CM Usman Buzdar greets Centre on balanced budget

LAHORE:Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar extended congratulations to Prime Minister Imran Khan, Finance Minister Shaukat Tareen and their team for presenting a balanced and public-friendly budget. Economic team led by PM Imran Khan had announced long-lasting measures for composite development in the country and the budgetary announcements would strengthen the economy, he added.

The CM regretted that the opposition behaved in an uncivilised manner as it had nothing left to criticise. No better budget could be presented in this situation, he maintained. The common man had been provided facilities and the poor had not been burdened, he said and added that the federal budget would pave the way for economic development.

BALLOKI: Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar visited Head Qadirabad barrage to inspect the inflow and outflow of water. He was told that out of the available 32,000-cusecs water, 22,000 cusecs was released to Qadirabad-Balloki Link Canal while the rest of the 10,000 cusecs water was discharged to the river. The CM ordered for repairing the rest houses and residential buildings of the Irrigation Department along with the restoration of the road link between the irrigation colony and the barrage.

He also ordered for completing arrangements for meeting the possible threat of floods in monsoon season and made it clear that no negligence would be tolerated. Arrangements for dealing with expected foods be given final shape without any delay, he said and regretted that the departments had made a habit of showing some exhibitory activity in an hour of need but this will not be tolerated. The chief minister also directed his staff to solve the problems of locals who had gathered there to meet him.

CHILD LABOUR: The chief minister has said that child labour was a lingering problem with numerous socio-economic ramifications.

In his message on the World Day Against Child Labour, the chief minister said involving children in labour was a criminal activity. The government was working hard to overcome this nagging threat, he said and added that every segment of the society should come forward to lend a helping hand in this regard. The government had taken several steps to eliminate child labour through effective legislation and it was fully determined to save children from this illegal pursuit. Today, the whole society should commit to accelerating collective efforts to root out menace of child labour from society, the CM added.

GRIEVED: The chief minister has expressed deep grief over the loss of lives in a road accident near Khuzdar, Balochistan. He extended sympathies to the bereaved families. In a statement, the CM prayed for early recovery of the injured, adding that the Punjab government fully shared the grief of the affected families.
