‘Deaf people can do anything’

KARACHI: Fashion Pakistan Week has a few highlights revealed for its two-day summer showcase being held tomorrow.

With a lineup of fifteen designers for the showcase, precaps of day one reveal that six models, who are part of the JS Academy for the Deaf, will be walking for a menswear brand Amir Adnan, alongside team’s senior most designer with hearing impair – to applaud that “Deaf people can do anything”.

“The purpose of this show is to create awareness about the deaf community and symbolise that it does not matter if it is fashion or modelling or any other field, having a hearing impairment does not mean that you should not chase your dreams,” The House of Amir Adnan said in a statement.

Day One will put on ramp ‘Gogi’ by Hassan Riaz whose collection is slated to represent child labour – while ‘Gulabo’ by Maheen Khan, Huma Adnan’s FnkAsia, The Pink Tree Company with its Chaandraat collection, Amir Adnan’s vintage sherwanis and Yasmeen Jiwa are scheduled for the day.

More lineups from day one include designers Cheena Chhapra and Farah Talib Aziz will be making debut appearance at the FPW ramp.

The second day will have FPW chairperson Deepak Perwani, Saira Shakira, Rozina Munib, Natasha Kamal and Ayesha Farook while Boheme by Kanwal will be one debut at the show.
