ISLAMABAD – The residents of sector E-11 have expressed their reservations over the non-conforming use of the residential premises in the area thus leading to criminal activities.
E-11 Resident Forum, an informal voluntary community organisation established by the residents of various societies in Sector E-11 has approached Member (Estate) Capital Development Authority (CDA) to lodge their complaint about the non-conforming use of the residential premises by continuing commercial activities, in violation of Islamabad Residential Sectors Zoning (Building Control) Regulations 2005 and CDA Ordinance 1960.
In a letter to the Member, the forum said that they have been regularly pointing out to CDA as well as to the management of societies operating in the E- 11 Sector that the non-conforming use of the premises has created a lot of difficulties for the residents of E-11 sector which include excessive use of infrastructure, water, electricity and above all the privacy of the neighbours where next door house is converted into a hostel, office or a beauty parlour etc. The recent Facebook video regarding sexual assault has hung our heads in shame as residents of E-11 sector. In the entire country, the media reported this incident, E-11 sector is being mentioned everywhere, said the letter.
The residents said that continued use of residential premises for commercial purposes reflects poor management of the societies while CDA has closed its eyes on non-conforming use and law-enforcing agencies are not maintaining any record of illegal business activities. They said all types of businesses have moved to the E-11 sector’s residential or commercial areas. Eventually, the sector has become a criminals’ safe haven. They have demanded the authorities concerned to take immediate action against non-conforming use of the residential premises. “We the residents of E-11 sector demand the authorities to please take immediate action against nonconforming use of residential premises and also take stern action against all illegal business activities taking place in the sector,” they said and added action taken by CDA Enforcement Department against these illegalities was stopped half way.
