Gas loadshedding, low pressure irk residents of Tank

TANK: Unannounced gas load shedding and low pressure have badly hit both the domestic and commercial consumers in Tank district.

The residents of Tank city have threatened the authorities concerned with a protest if the problem of gas load-shedding and low pressure were not resolved. They said that gas pressure drastically drops in the mornings and evenings.

The residents said that housewives were facing hardships due to low gas pressure and unscheduled load-shedding.

Zaman Bhittani, who heads a civil society organization “Tank Itehad”, said that gas load-shedding was started while Eidul Azha was approaching, adding that Tank city was not having factories or CNG stations but gas authorities were still mistreating the locals.

He said that people Tank was also depositing gas bills on time but despite that load shedding was in full swing. He demanded the minister for petroleum and natural gas authorities to take notice of the unscheduled load-shedding.

Rizwan Baloch, another resident of Tank, said that low gas pressure created problems for the residents in various localities. He said the authorities concerned should take action against those who used compressors to suck gas from the supply lines. “I had no option but to bring roti from a tandoor as we can’t cook it at home due to the low pressure of gas,” said Baloch.

Another resident, Sheikh Ihsan ullah, said that there was zero pressure of gas from morning till late night and it forced him to bring coal and wood to cook meals.

Meanwhile, following a complaint, Deputy Commissioner Kabeer Afridi has written a letter to General Manager Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited, seeking action against unannounced load-shedding of gas, low pressure, and unavailability of staff in the company’s office in Tank.
