Peshawar – The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Thursday started automation of Statement of New Expenditures (SNEs) in finance department with an objective to introduce efficiency and reduce creation time.
In this connection a ceremony was held here which was attended besides others by Secretary Finance Atif Rahman and concerned officials of the department.
Addressing the ceremony, KP secretary finance said that the government was making efforts to promote paperless governance and budgeting in the province. He said that concerned officials of the department had been given necessary training after which SNEs would be created in ten days instead of 34 days.
He said that creation of SNEs was a difficult task that needed time and proper concentration. Process of creating SNEs, he added, had been streamlined following directives of the KP Chief Minister and finance minister.
He said that FCDO-funded Sub-National Governance Programme had provided technical assistance for Management Information System that has been formulated for the creation and authentication of SNEs.
Atif Rehman said that concerned budget officials of line departments had been provided four-day training on newly-developed IT systems. He termed automation need of the hour and a significant step to improve productivity of the department.
