Masked dacoits loot travellers by blocking road in capital  

ISLAMABAD – A gang of six dacoits wearing masks placed barricades at Chakhtan Morr in Islamabad and deprived the travellers of cash, informed sources on Wednesday. 

After committing the crime, the dacoits managed to escape from the scene. The incident took place in limits of Police Station (PS) Nilore, sources added. According to sources, a gang of six highwaymen covering their faces with masks blocked road at Chakhtan Morr and looted cash from travellers. The dacoits snatched cash Rs400,000 and other valuables from an expatriate Najeem Akhter, resident of Kahuti. Similarly, dacoits deprived Zohaib, a dumper driver, of Rs75,000 cash. 

Soon after occurrence of the incident, the victims and residents of the area blocked road for traffic and staged a protest demonstration against police. PTI MNA Raja Khurram Nawaz intervened and made the public to open road for traffic.

SSP Operations Dr Syed Mustafa Tanweer, when contacted, confirmed that unknown dacoits snatched cash from passengers on gunpoint. He said police have registered a case and launched manhunt for fleeing dacoits.
