RAWALPINDI – Mandra police have recovered huge quantity of narcotics from an abandoned car in a village near GT Road, informed a police spokesman on Monday. The police have begun manhunt for the suspected smugglers besides filing a case against them, he added. According to him, a team of Mandra police, on an information provided by a citizen, took into custody a suspicious car parked in Dhoke Waziran near GT Road. During course of search, he said, the police have found 7500 grams of Charas and 3700 grams Opium from secret cavities of the vehicle. Police moved the car to police station along with the narcotics and registered case against unknown smugglers, the spokesman said. He said the data of car has been obtained from excise and taxation office while further investigation was on. City Police Officer Muhammad Ahsan Younas, in a statement, appreciated the quick response of Mandra police on information of a citizen. He said wiping out menace of narcotics from society is prime responsibility of police. He said the citizens should play vital role to keep the youth away from use of drugs.
