Rawalpindi : Another five patients suffering from coronavirus illness, COVID-19 belonging to Islamabad Capital Territory and Rawalpindi district died of the illness in the last 24 hours while 135 new patients were tested positive from the region showing that the situation cannot be termed as under control at the moment.
In the previous two days, the number of patients reported from the twin cities was 195. To date, the virus has claimed a total of 1,734 lives from ICT and Rawalpindi district while as many as 105,680 patients have so far been tested positive from the region.
It is, however, important that the positivity rate of COVID-19 from Rawalpindi has been recorded as 2.91 per cent in the last 24 hours that was 4.56 per cent on Tuesday. Out of a total of 1,168 samples tested for COVID-19 in the district in the last 24 hours, 34 were reported positive, said In-charge District COVID-19 Cell Rawalpindi Dr. Hafiz Muhammad Jawad Zahid.
Data collected by ‘The News’ on Wednesday has revealed that a total of 971 patients have so far died of COVID-19 from Rawalpindi district while the virus has so far claimed as many as 763 lives from the federal capital.
As many as four patients died of the disease from Rawalpindi district in the last 24 hours while 35 patients were tested positive for COVID-19 from Rawalpindi taking tally to 24,323. A total of 22,863 patients belonging to the district have achieved cure.
The number of active cases from the district was 489 on Wednesday of which 35 patients were hospitalized in the district while the number of confirmed patients in home isolation was 454.
Meanwhile, the virus claimed one more life from the federal capital in the last 24 hours while confirmation of 100 new cases from ICT took tally to 81,357. To date, a total of 76,066 patients from the federal capital have recovered from the illness while the number of active cases of the disease from ICT was recorded as 4,528 on Wednesday.
